14.07.2019 the summer uprising is here!
We rise again! The Summer Uprising officially begins tomorrow morning. Extinction Rebellion will hold 5 sites across the UK between the 15th - 19th of July, in rebellion over our government's inaction on climate breakdown. The sites will be London, Leeds, Glasgow, Bristol, and Cardiff.
Groups from all over Surrey, including Extinction Rebellion Guildford, will join the action around Waterloo. On Monday 15th the pink boat is back, and will be carried to the Royal Courts of Justice on a sea of rebels (please wear blue!). There we will demand that the court holds our government to account over the climate crisis, and we will state our case for making ecocide law.
Please join us from 7am Monday morning and throughout the week for inspiring actions and outreach events. There will be camping, swarming, bike riding, and no doubt a fair bit of locking-on!
The time to act is now. We must face the truth. You can make a difference. Taking to the streets is a highly effective way to stop our governments ignoring us. We have already seen parliament declare a climate emergency and agree to citizens assemblies thanks to the International Rebellion. But so far these empty words are not good enough. We will not back down until we as a nation are doing everything in our power to mitigate the devestating effects of climate breakdown that are already taking the lives of our brothers and sisters in the global south.
